 as a form and it's uniqueness in relation to other written forms of express
 ions and performance making, the process of writing a play and the challeng
 es a writer faces in the process, and the work that one needs to do while d
 eveloping basic elements such characterisation, plot and dialogue. \nShanta
  Gokhale is a well known translator and writer of novels, plays, short stor
 ies, film scripts and innumerable newspaper articles. She writes in Marathi
  and English. Gokhale has written and edited several books on theatre inclu
 ding Playwright at the Centre and The Scenes We Made: An Oral History of Ex
 perimental Theatre. Shanta Gokhale has received prestigious awards includin
 g the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and the lifetime achievement award at Tat
